Supporting our Welsh schools in Prayer
Pray for Schools Cymru mobilises and supports Christians across Wales to pray for their local schools
The need to pray for schools
prayer changes things. It makes a difference.

Thousands of Welsh children are in school every day
As Christians, we want to bless our schools by praying for them – asking God’s favour on all those involved: students, parents, staff and volunteers – remembering that the young people are the adults of tomorrow.
Schools have a huge impact
Children and young people spend most of their waking hours in school. We know schools impact their attitudes, ideas and thinking about themselves, the world, and God. Some are thriving and flourishing. Others are struggling, battling against poverty and additional support needs. Each one is made in the image of God.

Will you pray for them?
Will you commit today to pray for your local school? You can pray in a way that suits you, as an individual, as a church or prayer group. You can pray for all the schools in your area, or even for schools across Wales.
Jesus said,
“Let the children come to me”
Mark 10:14, NLT
When we pray, we are bringing the children and their schools to Jesus.

Register the schools you are praying for
By registering your prayers for a school, you are joining a network that stretches across the whole of Wales. We will then keep you informed of prayer events and news. If you would like to link up with others praying for the same school as you, tick ‘Link up’. The ‘Prayed for schools map’ will show you if your school is being prayed for.
Starting a group
If your school is not currently prayed for, why not begin a school prayer group, inviting pupils, parents, grandparents, church friends? Some school prayer groups already meet in various locations across the country. They would love you to join them!
Local Churches
Encourage your church to pray for local schools and pass the word on to other churches in the vicinity to do the same or even join in with you.
Don’t have a place to pray?
Why not start a ‘Prayer Walking Group’ or ask the school if you can pray on their premises, we are already seeing doors open in this way
What should I pray for?
There are so many issues facing young people today that urgently need our prayers. Ask the Lord specifically to guide you in what to pray for or ask the school! You may be surprised how receptive and grateful the school may be to know you are praying for them.
